A Thought to Ponder: Do you have sound Biblical doctrine?

Sound Bible doctrine always does one of two things. It either reveals the glory of God and helps us to understand His character better or it protects us from a deception of satan (sometimes it does both simultaneously).

For example, when we understand the sound doctrine that only God hath immortality then we have reason to give Him glory. We recognize our dependence upon Him for that type of life and that we must seek for immortality by His chosen way of giving it to us, which just so happens to be belief in and obedience toward His only begotten Son (see 1 Tim 6:13-16; Rom 2:6; John 3:16; John 5:26; 1 John 5:11). We are also preserved from the errors that come along with the doctrine of the immortal soul, such as the satanic distortion of God’s character by the false doctrine of everlasting torment of unrepentant sinners in hell without end and also the satanic deception whereby demons masquerade as dead people come back from the grave (in soul or spirit form) to give guidance and advice to unsuspecting individuals which is contrary to the holy Scriptures.

So, again, sound Bible doctrine reveals the glory of God and/or exposes the deceptions of satan. Keep this in mind, beloved, as you study the Word. Take heed to your doctrine, and believe in Jesus’ promise that the Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth. This promise will not fail if, indeed, you are willing to do God’s will (John 16:13; John 7:17)

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15)

“Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you (1 Tim 4:16)

“Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. (Titus 1:9)

Be forewarned that the devil and his fallen angels are presenting their doctrines too.

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Tim 4:1)

And these are coming through false teachers.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers (2 Tim 4:3)

“I am instructed to say that when men turn aside from a “Thus saith the Lord,” because they do not study His Word critically and diligently, they will receive false, fanciful statements and will circulate them by pen and voice. And, because these men occupy positions of responsibility, their fanciful representations will be accepted as truth. {18LtMs, Ms 140, 1903, par. 37}

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine (Titus 2:1)
